NEBOSH Health and Safety at Work Award

This course book looks at why it’s important to manage health and safety in the workplace and the effective processes required. Common workplace hazards and controls are discussed, as well as understanding why incidents happen and how to investigate them.

Who is the qualification designed for?

The qualification is designed for anyone who needs to understand the principles of health and safety as part of their job; this would include team leaders and supervisors, HR professionals, facilities managers and those training young people in a working environment. Many people take the NEBOSH Health and Safety at Work Award as a first step in a career in health and safety. It gives a valuable overview, and is a sound basis for further professional study.

Achieving the qualification

The NEBOSH Health and Safety at Work Award has one assessment (see ‘Qualification overview’ for details on the assessment and the pass standard); you must achieve a ‘Pass’ in the unit to be awarded the qualification.

Resubmitting the assessment

You can resubmit your assessment if you received a ‘Refer’ result. There is no limit on the number of times you can resubmit, however, you must register and pay the associated registration fee on each occasion.

Where can I take this course?

This course can be delivered within your organization, or your employees can attend training courses run at our training center. You should plan your study around a minimum of 241 taught hours and approximately 234 hours of private study and background reading.
